Welcome to the inaugural post of our blog—Saskatchewan Synod, where faith, mission, and prairie spirit converge across the landscape of our church community. At the heart of the Saskatchewan Synod is our mission, beautifully framed in our constitution: “to proclaim the Gospel of Christ”—sharing the life-giving message that God loves the world, embodied in Jesus Christ. We proclaim this not only in words but through sacramental worship, servant-hearted action, and inclusive welcome across all communities.
Who We Are and What Binds Us.
As one of five regional synods within the ELCIC, we represent a diverse tapestry of 91 congregations and roughly 13,000 baptized members, extending through Saskatchewan and into western Manitoba.
Together, we embrace our role as a cooperative—much like a bicycle wheel—where local congregations (the tire) connect to the wider support of the Synod (the hub), enabling us to accomplish more together than any one community could alone.
Formation, Support, and Shared Leadership
The Synod’s central office in Saskatoon serves as both a guiding and resourcing hub. We equip rostered ministers, support theological formation through our seminary, and respond pastorally to the evolving needs of our congregations.
We also nurture new leaders, encourage lay involvement, and cultivate missional partnerships both locally and globally.
Rooted in Prairie, Committed to Mission
Our prairie context is more than a backdrop—it shapes who we are. From rural hamlets to city centers, our congregations live and minister in the rhythms of Saskatchewan life. Yet, our impact stretches further—as local councils collaborate, partnerships flourish, and faith takes tangible form in Word, Sacrament, and service.
